Hi I’m
I make things and tell stories.
(A more ‘businessy’ job title would be Content Creator, and Communications and Social Media Strategist/Brand Management for Small Businesses, let’s stick with simple).
I tell stories through word choice in the articles I write, using the photographs I take, in the illustrations I draw, using typography in the designs I make, tone and sound in my public speaking, through editing and film, colour and ……. my communications toolbox is well stocked.
Most normal people have hobbies, I study.
I am a writer, photographer, graphic designer, journalist, social media strategist, marketer, public speaker, musician, and just for fun, pastry chef. Not because I do those things but because over the last 20 years, I have earned professionally recognised qualifications in every one of those areas. (Well, except music but 11 years of lessons has got to count for something, right?)
While I will never fit into a singular job title all my areas of study have been on a theme of communications. Whether it was storytelling in visual, written, or film, formats or learning marketing to share and promote. There is a delicious irony that the one area of study that does not fit the trend is the one responsible for starting me on this path – Yes, I really can blame the pursuit of a perfect homemade croissant for 20 years of study.
If you are looking to work with a communications professional who will quietly colour inside the lines of the box you put before them, no questions asked, I’m probably not for you.
If you are looking for someone to see the parameters of the box explore deeper into what you want, then end up giving you something so much bigger, brighter, and bolder than you could imagine that you forget you asked for a box to begin with? You are my kind of person.
